Lifeguards are on duty from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm 365 days per year. Always swim in front of a lifeguard.
Delray Municipal Beach spans one-and-one-half miles of South Florida coastline and accommodates over 2 million beach visitors every year. Delray Municipal Beach is one of the most accessible (easily accessible from I-95, the beach is centered at the East End of Atlantic Avenue).
The City of Delray Beach contracts with a beach cleaning service and a cabana rental company to insure year round enjoyment of the Municipal Beach for our residents and visitors.
Reminder....dogs are not allowed on the beach.
Parking
Beach parking permit are valid October 1 to September 30 of each year. Fees are not pro-rated. This permit is acceptable within the following city-owned parking lots on A-1-A: Sandoway Park, Anchor Park, Ingraham Park, Atlantic Dunes, and Marriott/North Lot.
Senior Beach Parking Permit: For residents age 62 or older, in addition to the regular parking areas listed above, with the Senior Beach Parking Permit they may also park in any parallel parking space on Ocean Blvd.(A-1-A) without requiring the payment of money into the space's parking meter.
Where to Obtain a Beach Parking Permit
Visit the Utilities Customer Service payment window at City Hall, 100 N.W. 1st Ave. to fill out an application, show your proof of vehicle ownership and proof of age (if applicable) and pay your fee.

Beach Parking Permits are issued according to the City’s Code of Ordinances, Section 71.060.
Recreation Areas
The Ocean Rescue Division designates specific use areas on the Municipal Beach for swimming, surfing, volleyball, sailing, wind surfing, snorkeling, with two recreational areas for kite flying, Frisbees, paddleball, etc.
Beach Chair Rental Services
Oceanside Beach Service provides all your beach equipment needs for the City of Delray Beach. They offer umbrellas, chairs and cabanas for rental use. The beach is fully set up at 9:00 am so there is no need for a reservation, just come down to the beach, select where you would like to sit and the attendant will take good care of you. Sailboat Storage
There is space for sixty non-motorized sailboats to be stored on the north end of the beach. The boats cannot exceed twenty feet in length and an annual permit available for everyone is required. For information call Gerard Smith at (561) 243-7358.
Boats must pass an inspection before a permit can be issued. All boats must be kept in good repair and seaworthy condition.

All boats must exhibit a properly attached and valid City permit by November 30th or the boat will be removed from the beach at the boat owner’s expense.
Accessibility
At the North end of the Beach, at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and A-1-A, the City maintains an elevated covered pavilion as well as an access mat that extends out onto the beach. Handicap parking is located on A-1-A next to these facilities and across Atlantic Avenue, a newly constructed accessible restroom facility was opened at Sarah Gleason Park.
Four-wheel chairs are available for the physically challenged to enjoy the beach. The chairs allow for mobility on the sand and are available from 9 am until 4:30 pm at the following lifeguard towers: South 1, located at A1A & Atlantic Avenue, South 3, South 5 and Atlantic Dunes Park, located on A1A just one block north of Linton Blvd.
The use of the surf chair is free of charge, on a first-come, first-serve basis with a two (2) hour time limit.

Please Note: To ensure safety, Ocean Rescue Staff are not allowed to assist in the transfer of users from wheelchairs or walkers to the surf chair, nor are they allowed to push the user in the surf chair. Therefore, a companion must accompany the user or else the use of the surf chair will be denied.
Dogs
" No person shall bring into, have or keep in any park, recreation or municipal beach site, any cat, dog or other animal without a specific permit from the Parks and Recreation Department. However, any cat, dog or other animal shall be allowed on the sidewalk and grassy area of the municipal beach between the eastern curb of A-1-A and western base of the dune for the entire length of the municipal beach and shall be on a leash. For purposes of this ordinance, the western base of the dune encompasses all vegetative growth that is found on the dune. All animal owners shall be responsible for the cleanup and disposal of their animal waste in this area." - Ordinance No. 57-01, Section 101.27 (B).

Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation opened a 2.5 acre fenced-in section of Lake Ida Park, made especially for your K-9 buddies to socialize, exercise and just plain have fun. There's a large Fido section and small Fido section complete with drinking areas. Don't forget your pooch and people manners, though. Basic rules of etiquette will apply.
