Celebrate the Holidays in Downtown Delray Beach!

Delray Beach, FL (December 1, 2015)...Get in the Spirit! The Downtown Development Authority and merchants invite you to experience Downtown Delray Beach for the holidays. Our neighborhoods from I-95 to the beach on Atlantic Avenue to Pineapple Grove, SOFA and along US1 are all dolled up for the holidays and ready to welcome you for shopping, dining, and entertainment. 
 
A festive atmosphere has been created with beautiful holiday décor compliments of the DDA and the Downtown businesses. Socialize and spread good cheer with fun events such as boutique wish list parties, parades and much more. "The DDA is once again a proud sponsor of the 100ft Christmas Tree, and we encourage everyone to enjoy this spectacle as they shop, dine and “holiday locally” this season,” said Laura Simon, Executive Director, DDA.

Decorating Contest
The Downtown Merchant Association is hosting a Holiday Decorating Contest, and businesses downtown are creating festive displays in their windows and throughout their stores. Be sure to see them all beginning December 3rd, and winners will be announced the week of December 15th for Most Creative, Most Festive, Most Delray and Best Overall.
 
Holiday Decor
The DDA adds its own festive touch throughout the District with holiday decor:
  • A beautiful Sphere Tree on the beachside at Atlantic Avenue and A1A, brought to you by: The Delray Beach DDA, Marriott Residence Inn, Boston’s On the Beach and Café Luna Rosa;
  • Twinkle lights and garland festoon the Delray Beach Pavilion, and the Visitor Information Center on the beachside at Atlantic Avenue and A1A;
  • 26 Holiday wreath displays on the NW and SW 5th Ave. light poles in partnership with the CRA;
  • Twinkle lights and holiday decorations adorn the Libby Wesley Plaza at SW 5th Ave and Atlantic Avenue; 50 holiday displays along Northbound and Southbound Federal Highway;
  • Pineapple painter palette displays on the light poles along Pineapple Grove Way;
  • Gold starfish lined with red twinkle lights adorn the light poles along Atlantic Avenue from I-95 to A1A.

Celebrate the Holidays in Downtown Delray Beach!

SHOP SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY ON NOVEMBER 28th IN DOWNTOWN DELRAY BEACH

Delray Beach, FL (November 2, 2015)… Mark your calendars for Small Business Saturday in downtown Delray Beach on November 28th! The main fabric of Downtown Delray Beach is comprised of 93% small business owners, both retail and restaurants, many of whom have had their doors open for over 15 years and one as long as 80. The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) encourages residents and visitors to celebrate “the small business” by shopping and dining locally and introducing yourselves to the owners and chefs throughout Downtown. American Express created this national shopping day event for cardholders and merchants which encourages people to shop at small businesses. The campaign was launched in 2010 on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

With than 450 unique boutiques, salons, spas, galleries and restaurants, Downtown Delray Beach is a destination to Shop Small. Recent new retail additions to the Downtown include BCBG, Margaux Riviera, Nicole’s Boutique and Viva Lola. They join small businesses including Periwinkle, Ginjer, Love Rich Boutique, Oh My Bod, Roxy Lulu, From Roehm with Love, Monogram Closet, the Spy Store and long-time local businesses Vince Canning Shoes, Avalon Gallery, Murder on the Beach Bookstore, Petite Connection, Hands, Delray Camera Shop, Richwagen’s Bike & Sport, and many more.

Participating businesses will be distributing reusable totes and pens provided by American Express, while supplies last, as well as celebrating “Shop Small” in various ways such as with refreshments and special gifts.

DELRAY BEACH DDA APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Delray Beach, FL (October 19, 2015)…The Board of Directors of the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) announces the appointment of Laura Simon as Executive Director as of October 1, 2015. Ms. Simon has held the position of Association Director since 2010 where she has successfully led the organization through rebranding efforts, while creating award-winning marketing campaigns and events that drive positive economic growth throughout the Downtown community.

“Laura knows and has a passion for Delray Beach since she was born and raised here. I am excited about working with her, as she will bring new ideas and direction for the DDA .from her years of experience at Office Depot Corporate as well as working as the Associate Director of the DDA for the last 5 years,” said Mark Denkler, Board President, Delray Beach DDA.

Laura Simon, a native of Delray Beach, has more than 22 years of experience in the corporate sector and hospitality industry, including event marketing and management positions with Office Depot, Inc., The Breakers Palm Beach, and other luxury resort properties. Ms. Simon has a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism Management from Clemson University, and is a Member, Board of Governors, Delray Beach Historical Society; President, Atlantic Community High School PTSA Organization; Member, International Downtown Association; and Member, RHI (Responsible Hospitality Institute).
