DELRAY BEACH FASHION WEEK COMES TO LIFE JANUARY 23-27, 2019!

Delray Beach, FL (December 21, 2018)…Downtown comes alive with style from January 23-27 during the 6th annual Delray Beach Fashion Week.  The 2019 theme of “Fashion Never Dies" inspired by 007 will be woven throughout the event featuring spectacular fashion, local designers, entertainment and beauty.  Diverse fashions will take center stage at the runway shows, fashion luncheon, Shop the Runway In-Store Shopping Event and in-store promotions throughout Downtown Delray Beach. 

 

“Created by the Downtown Development Authority and the Downtown merchants, Delray Beach Fashion Week is an award-winning event which we are thrilled to produce once again,” said Laura Simon, Executive Director, DDA.  This special week is a unique, fun and all-encompassing opportunity to share with our local residents and visitors the fashion and beauty that is found right here in Downtown Delray Beach.

 

In addition to the Downtown Delray Beach merchants, local fashion designer participants include:  Amanda Perna – House of Perna and Neon Bohemians; Glavidia Alexis - Glavidia: by Glavidia Alexis and Glavidia Hair Studio;  ; Bill DeBilzan – The DeBilzan Gallery; Arianne Brown - Ramona La Rue; Lizzie Lambert – Haystacks and Sam Delaney – Greenlines

Events will take place throughout Downtown Delray Beach and two of the runway fashion shows are free to the public to stand and watch.  The VIP Pass and runway show reserved seat tickets are available at www.DelrayFashionWeek.com, and 100% of ticket proceeds benefit the Achievement Centers for Children and Families.  The VIP Pass is $150, is limited, and includes a reserved seat at all runways shows and the luncheon, a One Year VIP IPIC Theater membership (opening in Delray Beach Spring 2019), a VIP Lanyard, entry to VIP Receptions and a special edition of the 2019 Fashion Week Amanda Perna SWAG Bag. Runway show reserved seat tickets and other event tickets range from $25-$50.

 

There is a “Chance to Win” Downtown Delray Beach Package valued at $500 which also benefits the Achievement Centers for Children & Families. Receive one “Chance” with each VIP Pass or runway seating ticket purchased.   Additional Chances to Win will be available at each runway show for $5 per chance or $10 for three chances.

Location: Atlantic Avenue in front of The Colony Hotel, 525 E Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach

7PM- 10PM: Ticketed runway seating, Live performance by Edge Effect – an a cappella group, Red Carpet with Step & Repeat, Downtown Merchant Tent, Beauty Bar with stylists from local salons and beauty stores

8PM SHOW: Live runway show featuring Evening Wear & Designer wear Fashions from the Downtown retailers.

Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019: “For Your Eyes Only” Shop the Runway In-Store Shopping Event throughout Downtown Delray

10AM - 2PM:  Shop the Runway! This new Fashion Week event provides a fun, unique way to shop the participating retailers within Downtown Delray Beach. Attendees will enjoy a welcome reception at Brule Bistro with champagne and light bites, Fashion Week swag bag, transportation to participating stores and chances to win fabulous prizes when you shop! Attendees will be escorted to retail stores by complimentary transportation where they will enjoy festive shopping experiences and end the day with a closing reception at Papa's Tapas.

Tickets:  $25 per person - benefiting the Achievement Centers for Children and Families.

 

Friday, Jan. 25, 2019: “Fashion is Forever” Resort Wear Luncheon and Fashion Show

7PM - 9PM:  Celebrate the 007 Swim theme Delray Beach Style! This resort town is filled with all types of swim and surf fashions – check out the over 60 models who will strut the Avenue and the runway in the heart of Downtown Delray Beach. Music, beach games, & vendor tables followed by runway fashion show, chance to win drawing, thank you ceremony and final walk. VIP Ticket holders will enjoy a reception at Avant Restaurant 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 pm.

Delray Beach, FL (November 12, 2018) …Downtown Delray Beach invites you to Shop Small and enjoy a Holiday Beachside Stroll on Small Business Saturday, November 24, 2018.  Hundreds of unique boutiques, salons, spas, art galleries, restaurants and professional services are comprised of 93% small business owners.  Truly a destination to Shop Small, residents and visitors alike will experience in-store and outdoor promotions, entertainment, festive decorations and light bites throughout Downtown.

 

The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is an official Shop Small Neighborhood Champion and is partnered with the City of Delray Beach, CRA and

the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce. Shop Small Business Saturday is a nationwide movement to celebrate small businesses, while helping communities to thrive

and stay vibrant.

When:  Saturday, November 24, 2018 * 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Where:  Throughout Downtown Delray Beach & from the Intracoastal Waterway to A1A

Experience:  Sip & shop, sweet treats, entertainment including a steel drum band, caroling and old St. Nick, festive decorations, in-store promotions and complimentary gift wrapping in front of C. Orrico on the beachside.  The first 200 people who have their Downtown purchases wrapped will receive a complimentary Delray Beach ornament.

 

Visit the Shop Small Hospitality Booth, where customers that spend $50 at a Downtown Delray Beach small business can receive complimentary gifts and Shop Small giveaways, while supplies last.  The Shop Small Hospitality Booth will be in Pineapple Grove by the Banyan tree in front of Addison Gallery (206 Ne 2nd Street, Delray Beach) from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and in front of Hands Office & Art Supply, 325 E. Atlantic Ave from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

While it is a new tradition, it's one that will grow among families for years to come. We, along with the assistance of the DDA, wanted to showcase the variety of small businesses that the beachside has to offer."

 

Recent additions to the Downtown include Biba, Doughnut Works, JuiceBuzz MRKT & JUICERY, Ramen Lab Eatery, Beachfront Properties, Wine House Social, Nada’s Italy, Style De Vie and Jennifer on the Avenue.  They join long-time local businesses Vince Canning Shoes, Avalon Gallery, Murder on the Beach Bookstore, Hands, Snappy Turtle, Delray Camera Shop, Huber’s Pharmacy, Periwinkle, Richwagen’s Delray Bike & Sport, and many more.

 

American Express created this national shopping day event for cardholders and merchants to encourage people to shop at small businesses.  Participating businesses will be distributing branded Shop Small giveaways provided by American Express, while supplies last, as well as celebrating “Shop Small” in various ways such as with refreshments and special in-store promotions.  Snap a selfie in your favorite Downtown Delray Small Business(es) using #DowntownDelray #SmallBizDelray and help share the love for our small business community.

Venetian Drive & Gleason Street Intersection Improvements

UPDATE: As of 11/9/2018

The road work on Atlantic Ave at the intersections of Venetian and Gleason will be wrapping up. The holes will be filled in over the weekend with rock material. Density testing will be performed early next week. Upon passing the density test, the asphalt will be laid middle to end of next week. Minor adjustments to sewer manholes/valve boxes along with ancillary striping will occur in the following week.


The City of Delray Beach will be working in conjunction with R&D Paving, LLC on the Venetian Drive & Gleason Street Intersection Improvements project that will begin September 4, 2018. This project, developed by the City of Delray Beach, was developed for the purpose of improving the paver brick intersections and pedestrian crosswalks at the intersections with Atlantic Avenue. The anticipated completion date of this project is December 3, 2018.

This project will cause vehicular and pedestrian travel inconveniences and as a result, will be constructed in two phases. During Phase 1: east/westbound traffic along Atlantic Ave will remain open, pedestrian traffic will remain open and ONLY right turns (eastbound) are available from Venetian Dr. & Gleason St. During Phase 2: east/westbound traffic along Atlantic Ave. will remain open, pedestrian traffic will remain open, Venetian Dr. & Gleason St. access to Atlantic Ave. will be closed. During the construction period, there will be lane shifts, road detours, and pedestrian detours. For your safety please adhere to the posted maintenance of traffic signage.  All disturbed areas of work will be restored prior to to the project's completion.
