Cornell Art Museum Presents “ICONS of ART Italian Mosaic Portraits”

Delray Beach, FL – January 8, 2025: The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) announced the opening of the Cornell Art Museum’s upcoming exhibition “ICONS of ART Italian Mosaic Portraits” on February 15, 2025. The new exhibition showcases 30 original, one-of-a-kind hand crafted mosaic portraits of famous personalities, representing a variety of cultural fields. Featured artists include Frida Kahlo, Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sophia Loren, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Mohammed Ali, Basquiat and more.

 

The exhibition is curated by Marusca Gatto, Cultural Arts Director at the Delray DDA, in collaboration with Guglielmo Zanette, Artistic Director of the Naonis Association and creator of the Concorso Mosaic Young Talent, and the prestigious Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, a world-famous Italian mosaic school.

 

WHEN: Opening Night is Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition will run through June 15, 2025. Hours at the Cornell Art Museum are Wednesday 12 to 5 p.m.; Thursday & Friday 12 to 7 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 12 to 5 p.m.

Dirty Dancing LIVE in Concert – Have the Time of Your Life in Downtown Delray Beach

WHAT: The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has announced Dirty Dancing LIVE in Concert, a live film-to-concert experience of the classic film, is returning to Old School Square! The event, which was initially scheduled for December 2023 but was canceled because of weather, is now taking place Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Amphitheatre at Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida.

 

Guests can enjoy the digitally remastered hit film like never before on a full-size cinema screen, complete with a live band and singers performing the film’s iconic songs. Immediately following the film, the band and singers will throw an encore party that will surely take you back to the time of your life as you sing and dance along to your favorite Dirty Dancing songs. With a soundtrack that marked a generation, Dirty Dancing LIVE in Concert promises to bring a thrilling new and unique experience to the 80s classic.

 

WHEN:  Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. Performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Rain or Shine.

Media Alert: Cornell Art Museum Hosts “Hot Glass Panel Discussion”

Delray Beach, FL (December 1, 2024): The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) announced today it is hosting a “Hot Glass Panel Discussion” on December 12 at the Cornell Art Museum at Old School Square in Delray Beach.

 

Panelists include:

  • Rob Stern, a master glass artist with a distinguished 28-year career, collaborating with some of the world’s most accomplished glass artists and masters. He travels annually, sharing his expertise as a teacher and gaffer at the most prestigious glass institutions. Stern also gained widespread recognition as a star of the Netflix series Blown Away.

  • Brenna Baker, founder and artist of Hollywood Hot Glass, began her glassblowing journey at just 14 years old. Her career has taken her across the U.S. and to the renowned island of Murano, Italy, where she honed her craft under some of the most talented glass artists. An accomplished educator, she has trained and taught at The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass and recently gained fame as a star of the Netflix series Blown Away.

  • JoAnne (JB) Berkow, President and Founder of Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts and a highly regarded artists, business owner and philanthropist. Besides promoting her own work, Berkow has spent most of her professional life promoting the work of other talented emerging and mid-career artists.

 

Marusca Gatto, Cultural Arts Director at the Cornell Art Museum, and Eli Cecil, Creative Director at Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts, will moderate.

 

The Cornell Art Museum is featuring a Hot Glass exhibition in collaboration with the Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts and other glass facilities through March 2, 2025. The exhibition is co-curated by Gatto and Cecil.

 

WHEN: Hot Glass panel discussion takes place Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Twilight Tribute Concerts Kick Off at Old School Square in Downtown Delray Beach with Coldplay Tribute Band

September 27, 2024 (Delray Beach, Florida): The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has announced the performance lineup for its Twilight Tribute Concert Series at the Amphitheatre at Old School Square (51 N Swinton Ave) in Downtown Delray Beach. Taking place on the third Thursday of each month from November 2024 through April 2025, the Twilight Tribute Concert Series showcases a diverse lineup of tribute bands, covering a range of musical genres from pop and country to rock ‘n’ roll, 80s/90s hits, and more!

 

Sunset Concerts include:

 

  • November 21, 2024: “Life in Technicolor” – Coldplay Tribute

  • December 19, 2024: “Subliminal Doubt/Heart of Glass” – No Doubt/Blondie Tribute

  • January 16, 2025: “Only in America” – Brooks and Dunn with Reba & Shania Tribute 

  • February 20, 2025: “First Wave/Love Song” – The Cure, Duran Duran, David Bowie & 80s/90s New Wave Tribute

  • March 20, 2025: “The Freebirds” – Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, ZZ Top, Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute

  • April 17, 2025: “Homegrown: the Zac Brown Experience” – Zac Brown Band Tribute

 

Gates open at 5 p.m. each night. Music begins at 6 p.m. and headliners take the stage at 7 p.m. General admission for each concert is $10 (kids 12 and under are free) and VIP tickets, which include access to an exclusive VIP lounge with seating, a dedicated bar, and one free drink, are $50. Tickets for the November, December and January concerts will be limited due to reduced space availability caused by the 100-foot Christmas tree and Holiday Village. The DDA invites everyone – rain or shine – to bring lawn chairs and their dancing shoes and enjoy a night of entertainment with some of the best regional and national bands! Guests are encouraged to bring takeout from a local restaurant or purchase food and drinks from the local restaurant vendors featured onsite. There are no coolers or outside alcohol allowed. No weapons and no smoking at the venue.

Free Sunset Concert in Downtown Delray Beach Features The Resolvers

Delray Beach, Florida (September 19, 2024): The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is hosting another FREE Sunset Concert on Friday, September 27th featuring headliner, The Resolvers, and opener, the Eric Swanson Band. The community is invited to bring their lawn chairs and dancing shoes to enjoy a night of fun, free entertainment with some of the best regional and national bands.

 

The Sunset Concert Series at the Square is presented by the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority and the City of Delray Beach.
