GROW ECONOMIC VITALITY

NIGHTTIME ECONOMY

Downtown Delray Beach is a regional social destination with a vibrant culinary nightlife. Challenges
associated with this success became a focal point this past year as the city management addressed public
safety issues with strong enforcement and fines, thus causing a negative impact to the nighttime economy.
With the leadership of the DDA Team and Board, Jim Peters, Founder and President, Responsible Hospitality
Institute was hired as a consultant to find local solutions for sustaining vibrancy and ensuring safety. A
Nighttime Economy Town Hall was hosted by the DDA on July 10, 2019 which brought together 100
business owners and key city stakeholders. Mr. Peters gave a presentation and led a group discussion to
assist and guide key stakeholders and the city in finding solutions and planning for the nighttime growth
and evolution of the DDA District. Recommendations have been provided, and the downtown restaurants
and bars are working together with the DDA and the City of Delray Beach to review the operations and
management of the Nighttime Economy.

VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER

The Delray Beach Visitor Information Center, located on the beachside at 2 S. Ocean Boulevard, had a strong first year of attendance
following an extensive renovation. Operated and funded by the DDA, the Center is open seven days a week and run by a staff of 21 local
resident volunteers. More than 19,000 visitors gathered information at the center from October 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019.
