Who Started the DDA?
The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority was created in 1971 by downtown property owners who wanted a stronger, unified voice at City Hall. They worked with the State of Florida to establish the DDA as a special taxing district - one that downtown property owners themselves voted to fund in order to invest in the long-term success of the district.
Who Runs the DDA?
The DDA is governed by a 7-member board made up of property owners, business owners and residents who set policy direction. The DDA team, under the direction of the Executive Director, then puts that policy in action.
How is the DDA Funded?
The DDA is funded by a one-mill tax paid by property owners within the downtown district, creating a dedicated funding source to reinvest directly back into the area to strengthen downtown’s economic vitality and overall quality of place.
