Discover vibrant art, international talent, and a new reason to visit Downtown Delray Beach. This fall, the Cornell Art Museum at Old School Square welcomes internationally exhibited artist Marleen De Waele–De Bock for Blooming in Color!, a Spotlight Feature Exhibition running October 1, 2026, through January 24, 2027.

Located in the heart of our Village by the Sea, the Cornell Art Museum offers the perfect stop to add to your downtown day or evening. Explore De Waele–De Bock’s colorful, expressionistic paintings, then experience everything else Downtown Delray has to offer—from galleries and boutiques to restaurants, live entertainment, and the vibrant arts scene.

Blooming in Color

Inspired by the natural surroundings she encountered while living across three continents and four countries, De Waele–De Bock creates expressive works that celebrate color, texture, movement, and the beauty of the natural world.

Born and trained as an artist in Belgium, she has taken her career to Mozambique, South Africa, and the United States. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held by private collectors around the world.

Her creative process begins without a strict plan. A vague idea or impression evolves organically into a finished painting, resulting in works that feel spontaneous, emotional, and full of life.

This exhibition marks De Waele–De Bock’s return to the Cornell Art Museum after captivating audiences in the 2025 exhibitions Nature’s Palette: Art Inspired by the Earth and Mirror, Mirror.

“We are delighted to welcome back international artist Marleen De Waele–De Bock to the Cornell Art Museum for her Solo Spotlight Feature exhibition. Her work captivated audiences in both Nature’s Palette: Art Inspired by the Earth and Mirror, Mirror in 2025. Now, Marleen returns with a fresh collection of expressionistic, nature-inspired paintings—rich in color, texture, and emotion—that invite us to pause, reconnect, and find joy in the beauty of the natural world.”
