DELRAY BEACH, FL (December 7, 2020) – Poised to be America’s premier model food hall with heavy emphasis on artistic eye candy, Delray Beach Market by Menin Development is readying to open this March after a year of construction just half-a-block south of Atlantic Avenue in the heart of downtown Delray Beach, Florida.

A culinary phenomenon that not even COVID-19 could put a halt to, Delray Beach Market will serve as a physical homage to the Delray Beach experience, drawing from the town’s rich history as a travel and agricultural center as well as a winter escape for scores of unique personalities through the decades. Specialty food purveyors, innovative chef-helmed dining concepts and creative food incubators will be centered on local and ethnic gastronomy from established brick-and-mortar concepts to trendy food trucks. A creative beverage program, curated art and food exhibitions and an endless array of programming such as live music shows, culinary schooling, celebrity activations, and innovative events will be central to this new destination which will serve as a new flagship experience for Delray Beach, affectionately known as the Village by the Sea.

The culturally rich institution will deliver a recipe of equal parts market, community locale, art emporium, and culinary melting pot. Delray Beach Market will be the largest food hall ever to break ground in Florida and the very first in Delray.

Standing four stories tall at 150,000-square feet and featuring over 25 local and regional eateries with a rotating lineup of smaller artisan vendor pop-ups throughout, the Market will put Delray on the national map for its unique culinary landscape. But beyond offering an architecturally striking arena for food and art to come together while welcoming over 2,000 visitors a day, Delray Beach Market will serve as both a communal and millennial hub for the city of Delray.

Opportunities for public gatherings through creative food museum exhibits, collaborations with the world’s greatest food artists, educational celebrity culinary demonstrations, as well as an abundance of activations for kids and families to partake in throughout the week will be central to the experience.

“Delray Beach Market will be as much about supporting up and coming chefs as it will be to housing experienced concepts ranging from eclectic to fast-casual and fine dining. The market presents the perfect eco system for operators hard-pressed to congregate together in a communal dining experience, with easy financial access and built-in customers,” says Andy Masi, Clique Hospitality Founder and CEO, whose team has been appointed to manage the facility.   

Construction on the food emporium began in November 2019 and includes 60,000-square feet of individually-curated hospitality vendors anchored amidst a backdrop of stunning, large format interactive murals and sculptures by world-renowned artists, a 220-car, four-level enclosed parking garage, first floor and mezzanine levels with an abundance of indoor and outdoor seating areas, as well as dedicated takeout/pick-up spots.

The main hall invites guests to enjoy the exciting sights and sounds of the Market, where a bright and eclectic mix of neon and retro modern signage sets the tone for communal or individual dining. A central bar will present the ultimate in build-your-own Bloody Marys along with a rotating menu of seasonal cocktails crafted by top mixologists.

A craft beer bar on the ground floor will offer a variety of craft beer selections from Florida’s celebrated local breweries. At the mezzanine level, an open show kitchen surrounded with lounge areas along with an additional bar will present a space ideal for hosting cooking and baking classes, while catering to private, corporate and special events.

Specialty COVID-19 design measures include touchless bathrooms, collapsible nanowalls for open-air spaces at the mezzanine special event level, two garage doors on the ground floor, enhanced air filter AC system, outdoor seating for 200, and plenty of socially-distanced spaced indoor seating.

“Our show kitchen will be completely furnished, ready for hosted entertainment with audience space and state-of-the-art audio and visual capabilities,” says Andy Masi. “Activations will be a constant curation here. We are going for big strategic partnerships and will have alliances with spirit brands, food brands and a healthy mix of food retail.” 

Notable restaurants on the ground floor will include Sorella’s, an artisanal handmade pasta house featuring Chef Jimmy Everett, a Florida native with extensive Italian cuisine experience in kitchens like Marea (New York City) and Al Molo (Hong Kong). Sorella’s unique product offerings will include fresh, handmade build-your-own-pastas as well as a variety of take-home retail items such as authentic sauces, pastas by the pound and other ready to eat items; Bona Bona, an over-the-top ice cream shop with a boozy streak known for wild concoctions like its toasted marshmallow merengue; Tekka Bar, an esteemed hand-roll and sake haven for sushi connoisseurs developed by acclaimed Las Vegas restaurateurs Takashi Segawa & Oliver Wharton, highlighting the freshest seafood alongside an eclectic sake program; and Tiffin Box, a fast, fresh Indian concept that aims to please the less traditional palate with delicately altered flavors and an amalgamation of recipes from different parts of India.

The City of Delray Beach released this update on COVID-19 on the Saturday March 28th. Please see below for new guidelines and regulations:
 

Delray Beach Issues Stay At Home Order, Overnight Curfew

As part of its on going efforts to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the City of Delray Beach has issued a “stay at home” order and overnight curfew, effective Monday, March 30th at 12:01 a.m. The order will remain in effect until Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.  The City’s new order requires that all residents of the City of Delray Beach stay at home and within the entirety of their owned or rented property. 

The City of Delray Beach has issued a “stay at home” order and overnight curfew (effective Monday March 30th at 12:01 a.m. and will remain in effect until Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.) .  The City’s new order requires that all residents of the City of Delray Beach stay at home and within the entirety of their owned or rented property. 

The “stay at home” order does not require residents to confine themselves to the interior of their homes. Residents may make use of all exterior portions of their homes such as patios, porches, yards, and driveways. Residents may also leave their homes to travel to supermarkets and to other essential businesses and workplaces, medical facilities, as well as to walk their dogs and to exercise.  All non-essential travel, including, without limitation, travel on scooters, motorcycles, automobiles, or use of public transit is prohibited subject only to the exceptions listed below.   

The details of the new “stay at home” order are listed below:

  • Residents and visitors may engage in travel to seek goods and services from essential retail and commercial businesses as defined in City of Delray Beach Resolution 75-20 (listed below) as may be amended or extended.

  • Residents and visitors may engage in travel and similar activities to obtain assistance from law enforcement, fire-rescue, or other emergency services. 

  • Residents and visitors may travel to and from their homes to care for or support a family member.

  • Residents and visitors in the City may continue to travel to and perform work for and in support of essential retail and commercial businesses authorized to be open to the public in accordance with City Resolution 75-20, and to any local government, State government, or the Federal government. 

  • In areas not otherwise closed by a separate Emergency or Executive Order, residents may engage in outdoor activity and recreation with immediate family members that live in the same household, caretakers, or household members while staying six (6) feet apart from another person or group of people.

  • Residents and visitors may travel to and from places of worship.

  • All first responders, gang and crisis intervention workers, public health workers, emergency management personnel, emergency dispatchers, law enforcement personnel and related contractors, persons working for emergency service providers, and government employees performing work in the course and scope of their employment are categorically exempt from this Order.

  • The details of the new overnight curfew order are listed below:

  • Effective March 30, 2020 at 12:01 a.m., a general curfew is hereby established throughout the City of Delray Beach. The curfew will be in effect daily from 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and shall include but not be limited to the prohibition of pedestrian and vehicular movement, standing, and parking.  

  • The following exceptions shall apply within the City of Delray Beach: Provision of essential state, county, and City of Delray Beach emergency services such as fire-rescue, police, and hospital services, related government services, including the transportation of patients thereto:

  • Utility emergency repairs
  • Emergency calls by physicians
  • Food delivery and third-party food delivery services
  • Walking of dogs within 250 feet of the owner’s residence
  • Travel to and from work by employees of Essential Retail and Commercial Businesses as defined in Resolution 75-20

 

Other provisions of the City’s new order include the following health protection initiatives.

A person in a public space shall:

  • Practice social distancing by staying six (6) feet away whenever practicable from another person, excluding immediate family members, caretakers or, household members.

  • Cover all coughs and sneezes with their elbow or tissue.

  • Not shake hands.

  • Not enter any public place if the person exhibits any flu or COVID-19 like symptoms and/or has a fever over 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit unless that person is traveling to or from a hospital, doctor’s office, urgent care, walk-in clinic, or pharmacy.

  • If a person is exhibiting flu or COVID-19 like symptoms or has a fever over 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit and is seeking medical treatment, the person shall first contact their medical provider by phone before appearing at the medical provider’s office.

  • If a person is exhibiting flu or COVID-19 like symptoms or has a fever over 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit and requires a prescription or a refill thereof and the pharmacy has a delivery service, that person shall utilize the delivery service to receive their medication.

  • All public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a residence are prohibited except for gatherings between family members, caretakers, or household members provided such gathering does not exceed ten (10) people or as may be provided for in Resolution 75-20.

 

Essential Businesses Remaining Open, Per Delray Beach Resolution 75-20: 

  • Healthcare providers, including, but not limited to, hospitals, doctors' and dentists' offices, urgent care centers, clinics, rehabilitation facilities, physical therapists, mental health professionals, psychiatrists, therapists, and pharmacies

  • Grocery stores, farmers' markets, farm and produce stands, supermarkets, food banks and convenience stores

  • Food cultivation, including farming, livestock, and fishing

  • Businesses that provide food, shelter, social services, and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals

  • Newspapers, television, radio, and other media services

  • Automobile dealerships

  • Gas stations and auto-supply, auto-repair, and related facilities

  • Banks and related financial institutions

  • Hardware stores

  • Contractors and other tradesmen, appliance repair personnel, exterminators, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences and other structures

  • Mailing and shipping services, including post office boxes

  • Private colleges, trade schools, and technical colleges, but only as needed to facilitate online or distance learning

  • Laundromats, dry cleaners, and laundry service providers 

  • Restaurants and other facilities that prepare and serve food, may continue to do so on the condition that the food is provided to members of the public on a pick-up and takeaway basis only

  • Businesses that supply office products needed for people to work from home

  • Businesses that supply other essential businesses with the support or supplies necessary to operate, and which do not interact with the general public

  • Businesses that ship or deliver groceries, food, goods, or services directly to residences

  • Airlines, taxis, and other private transportation providers providing transportation services via automobile, truck, bus, or train

  • Home-based care for seniors, adults, or children

  • Assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and adult day care centers, and senior residential facilities

  • Professional services, such as legal or accounting services, when necessary to assist in compliance with legally mandated activities

  • Landscape and pool care businesses, including residential landscape and pool care services

  • Childcare facilities

  • Businesses operating at any airport, seaport, or other government facility, including parks and government offices;

  • Pet Supply stores

  • Logistics providers, including warehouses, trucking, consolidators, fumigators, and handlers

  • Telecommunications providers, including sales of computer or telecommunications devices and the provision of home telecommunications

  • Provision of propane or natural gas

  • Office space and administrative support necessary to perform any of the above- listed activities

  • Open construction sites, irrespective of the type of building

  • Architectural, engineering, or land surveying services

  • Factories, manufacturing facilities, bottling plants, or other industrial uses

  • Waste management services, including collection and disposal of waste

  • Any business that is interacting with customers solely through electronic or telephonic means, and delivering products via mailing, shipping, or delivery services

  • Private and municipal marinas and boat launches, docking, fueling, marine supply and other marina services

  • Mortuaries, funeral homes, and cemeteries

  • Hotels, motels, and other commercial lodging establishments and temporary vacation rentals.  However, restaurants, bars, and fitness centers in hotels, motels, and other lodging establishments remain closed or restricted

  • Veterinarians and pet boarding facilities

Who:               The 4th annual Dine Out Downtown Delray Restaurant Week 2019 is produced by the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) in partnership with the Downtown Delray Beach restaurants, cafés and fast-casual establishments/eateries.

 

Purpose:          To showcase the diverse dining scene and wide-array of culinary experiences in Downtown Delray Beach during the summer season - a tropical and leisurely time of year in South Florida.  The program will also raise awareness for the Living Hungry “Not One Hungry Homeless Student Delray Beach” initiative.

WHAT: Downtown Delray Restaurant Week 2019 will feature special multi-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus and culinary experiences and events including specialty themed dinners, food tours, cocktail classes, pizza making classes, charity food events and more.  The week-long event provides locals and visitors an opportunity to sample Downtown restaurants, cafés and fast-casual establishments/eateries at special prices.  This year select restaurants will feature Brunch and Happy Hour specials.

Delray Beach CRA inks deal with BH3 for West Atlantic mixed-use project

On April 9, the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency board made plans to move forward with a purchase and sale agreement with Aventura-based real estate firm BH3 for the mixed-use project along West Altantic Avenue.

The firm was awarded the project after the CRA board was presented with six proposals to redevelop the 600-800 blocks of the West Atlantic corridor back in January. The proposal for "AtlaWest" includes floor retail space, professional office space, 700 total parking spaces with a grocery store along and residential units including workforce housing and a public space named "Frog Alley" - paying homage to the nearby historic area of the neighborhood.

Other proposals presented to the CRA board included Uptown Delray, Jones New Urban, Kayne Anderson, Land America and Prime Investors.

Pineapple Grove Art & Music Fest - "Pineapple Grove Forever" - Kicks Off the International Beatles on the Beach Festival in Downtown Delray

Come with us on a magical mystery tour and experience “Pineapple Grove Forever” at the inaugural Pineapple Grove Art & Music Fest on Thursday, April 25, 2019 in Downtown Delray Beach.  Discover hidden gems and experience the fun, local vibe of the Pineapple Grove Arts District neighborhood at this free-to-attend event from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on NE 2nd Ave from Atlantic Avenue to NE 3rd St.

Pineapple Grove Art & Music Fest is a family-friendly, closed-street event celebrating the art and culture of this historic neighborhood.  Experience over 50 merchant and restaurant open house events, art exhibits, live demonstrations, music, games and more.  Participate in the merchant “Mystery Tour” with chances to win prizes at different locations throughout the event, take a photo on “Abbey Road,” check out the VDubs of Palm Beach VW Beetle display, and take part in the costume contests: Beatles look-a-like, 70s Attire, Pineapple Attire and Pet costumes.  Enjoy live Beatles music on three stages along NE 2nd Ave. with performances by the Jay Valor Band sponsored by Tin Roof, and Beat and Shout, The Norwegian Beatles, Troika Blu Young, Estefy Lennon, Summer in Winterland and Paul Davie Acoustic sponsored by Beatles on the Beach.
